The Lord of the Rings: Gollum launched without much fanfare as the game’s reviews were absolutely terrible and it ended up being a full price release, probably because it used The Lord of the Ring license. Today, the company behind the game, Daedalic Entertainment, announced that it is retiring from video game development and will instead be a sales and marketing video game publisher. Daedalic Entertainment also laid off 25 employees and canceled The Lord of the Rings game they were working on, which was apparently a sequel to The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Daedalic says it is still committed to improving Gollum through patches and updates.
