We bring a curious news related to Ace Attorney. Apparently the franchise is starring the most recent campaign against marijuana use in Japan.
The information comes directly from Capcom, who has been collaborating with the government of the country since 2009 for the “illustration of crime prevention” in relation to this matter.
In the promotion poster we can read “Hold! Marijuana steals your future! “, which makes sense considering that in Japan the use of cannabis for recreational or medical use is prohibited by law. In fact, possession of cannabis carries up to seven years in prison and the cultivation and importation of the drug are punishable by up to ten years in prison and a fine of 3 million yen (£ 20,000 / $ 26,500).
