Despite being on our radar since its announcement last year, we’ve seen remarkably little of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed, the upcoming 3D platformer/brawler from developer A Heartful of Games and publisher Outright Games. That’s how it is to this day! A brand new trailer for the game has arrived and things are still looking pretty good.
Building on the first glimpse of the game we got back in July, today’s new footage begins to introduce us to the game’s story (as told by April O’Neil). A bunch of bad mutants are on the loose — in a Turtles game? What are the chances?? — and it’s up to the heroes in the half-cradle to shut them down. We can see plenty of combat and some basic platforming challenges as well, in what appears to be both single player and co-op modes.
All this follows immediately after the fantastic year 2023 Mutant Mayhem movie, using the same “3D-meets-2D” art style that really made the movie popular and bringing back the four main voice actors for some new dialogue.
We have to say, once again, that it doesn’t look too shabby at all. Sure, some of the eye animations are a little dead in the odd sequence, but the combat looks fun enough, and the visuals suit the gameplay much better than we expected. Let’s just hope everything runs smoothly on Switch when it launches October 18…
Earlier this year, Outright Games revealed the powerful Mutants Unleashed Collector’s Edition, which features an absolutely massive amount of Turtles merchandise, but comes with a hefty £219.99 / $249.99 / $199.99 price list. Yeah, we were pretty shocked too.
This will be the third TMNT landing on the Switch this year after the gritty arcade brawler Wrath of the Mutants and the rather fun Hades’ Splintered Fate. The more the merrier, huh?
