Some time ago, we heard from several different video game leakers that SEGA was planning a fun-themed Sonic game and that it was slated for release this year. Now, Insider Gaming has seen internal videos where the party game is called Sonic Toys Party. The game is similar in spirit to the popular free-to-play game Fall Guys and will feature 32-player matches and of course include a variety of characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise past and present. It is not clear when Sonic Toys Party will officially launch.
“Gameplay submitted to Insider Gaming on the condition that the footage not be released to the public and the source remains anonymous, showing various Sonic characters battling it out in 32-player matches. Sonic, Tales, Shadow, Knuckles, Eggman, Amy, Metal and more can be seen competing to overcome obstacles and fight bosses, where the last player standing wins. Some matches require players to race to the finish line, collect rings, or simply survive to the end. Gold rings appear to play a vital role in the game’s cosmetics, where they will go towards unlocking chests that include new costumes, emotes (screens over the character’s head), dances, tracks, emotes and more.”
