Nintendo has announced this morning that it has shipped 107.65 million Nintendo Switch consoles since the system launched in 2017. This figure includes sales for the standard Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) The Kyoto-based company also stated that it plans to ship 21 million units in the current fiscal year which ends 31st March, 2023. If Nintendo manages to achieve this it would mean that they would have total Nintendo Switch sales at 128.65 million. For the most recent quarter from 1st January, 2022 to 31st March, 2022 Nintendo shipped 4.11 million units worldwide. In comparison Sony has sold 2 million PlayStation 5 consoles in the same period, but the new Sony console is heavily supply constrained.
Nintendo’s overall sales for the full fiscal year (between April 2021 and March 2022) fell by 3.6% year-on-year and the company’s operating profit dropped 7.5%. Nintendo expects sales to drop by further a 5.6% and operating profit 15.6% in 2023. Nintendo also announced that it has now sold over 822.18 million copies of video game software for the system since it launched in March, 2017.
