Many fans were somewhat disappointed with the final reward of getting all Kolog seeds of Zelda: Breath of the Wild o Tears of the Kingdom. However, this has a deeper meaning than it appears at first glance, or that is what a recent reflection made years after its original premiere points to.
If you have not achieved this reward and prefer not to discover it, we recommend that you do not continue reading.
There are infinitely many seeds in both games. If we find them all, Obab will reward us with something known as “Obab’s gift”. If we look closely, we can see that it is a golden pile of feces.
In fact, it has already been confirmed that are droppings, because the game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi confirmed it with IGN talking about Zelda: Breath of the Wild: “We thought it would be fun to make a big joke out of it.” However, the reflection we were talking about suggests that it could be a lucky charm that Obab gives Link with all his love.
Japan Times mentions that this golden pile of poop is known in Japan as “kin no unko”. These little golden trinkets became popular in the early 2000s, when they were bought as souvenirs designed to brighten the mood and bring luck in the midst of an economic slump, though this would have an even older origin: a golden stack of feces that brings good luck comes from a pun involving the spoken Japanese language. “The Japanese word for poop (unko) begins with the same ‘oon’ sound as an unrelated word meaning ‘lucky’. This pun associate the object with good luck.
What do you think about Obab’s gesture in Zelda games? Do not hesitate to leave it in the comments.
