Following The North Wind
Over the last few weeks we've been able to ask game co-creators Tayler Christensen and Jacob Sutton some questions about the history of this project, bringing the game to Nintendo & # 39; s console, as well as challenging putting everything into one of those sweet little Sweets. the chariots.
Nintendo's Life: First of all, for anyone who may have missed the game on the PS4, tell us about the North Spirit and its premise.
Tayler Christensen: In Ghost of the North, he plays as a familiar red fox that descends into the depths of ancient Glacier. There you find Fox's descent and after awakening you begin your journey. It is a quiet way for a third party without discussion. The story is told mostly about nature and music.
How long has the game been in development? Is the switch always a control platform?
Development started in April 2017 and was first published on PS4 Nov 1st, 2019. We always liked the idea of being released on the switch, and our fans made it clear that this was what they wanted more than anything. After our first release, we met the big publisher (Combine Games) and they opened the doors for us, and we were able to start sending Game to Turnch.
What has been your main inspiration during the development? Has your original idea changed in every development or last game you've almost re-imagined in the original way?
From the beginning, we knew we wanted to make a game that was based more on good storytelling. The game is designed to never distract the player from entering the world. This is why there is no discussion again, very little text is displayed during the game. The world is inspired by Iceland's magnificent and breathtaking beauty.
One of the biggest challenges was reducing the game's RAM usage
The first inspiration for the story came from a part of the Finnish Folklore in which the Northern lights are made of foxes roaming the tundra. As its tail erupts in rocks it creates a beam of light that rises to the sky. These layers form the Aurora Borealis. We held on to our first solidity of the game, while also supporting the use of being a two-man studio.
Obviously, bringing the game to Switch involves a lot of work and optimization to make the game work well on a portable mobile chipset. What were the biggest challenges you faced in sending Ghost of the North to the switch?
Jacob Sutton: One of the biggest challenges was reducing the game's RAM usage. The switchch only has about 3.1GB of memory used, we have been traveling with that signal and risk of the game. It took us about a month to get it right to get the game to stay within the new limit. This was a challenge we did not expect to face, but I am very happy with the way we handled it.
Will the Switch version of the game use any platform-specific features or content differences from other platforms?
Tayler Christensen: It's the first managerial version of the game; we can't wait for players to face Ghost of the North on the go!
Since launching on PS4 you have been releasing updates to that group while working on PC and Switch versions – you are plunging into a global problem and that sounds like a heavy burden. How has the current global situation affected the infuse team?
We both live in different states and only get together at major events
We feel very fortunate that the effects of this epidemic have not had an impact on us reaching other stations, and other lines of work. We already work from home. We both live in different states and only get together at major events every few years. The workload of installing the PS4, sending it to the switch and PC, as well as keeping up with the media and media has been overwhelming.
The game gets a noticeable change to the switch, as well as a Signature Edition with various good features. Tell us a little about the process of rolling out a virtual reality game from a dev perspective (compared to a digital release only). Will the rest of the game come to a cart?
It was very important that the game was as complete as possible in the cart. Fortunately, many bugs were removed when they first came out after the launch of the PS4. Physical copies contain the entire game. This was difficult to do as we had to expand the game from 8gb down to 3gb without removing the content.
We are so excited about the Signature Edition copies! It was fun to design pins, coins, etc. I think players will really enjoy the original audio CD included.
From the looks On Twitter looks like someone played on the infuse Animal Crossing? What games did the team enjoy on the new switch recently?
If only we had enough hours in the day to play some games. There are so many great ones out there! Pokémon, Wild Breathing, Super Smash Bros., and Animal Crossing are among the other games to list.
We're also familiar with other games in the Merge family Month, Sparklite, It's a very dark hole, Northgard, There, again Dead Cells to name a few. We are now starting to play more games that have come out over the past three years, as we have been deep during our game cycle.
Thanks to Tyler and Jacobs for their time. North wind is out today on the switch. We'll have your review as soon as possible, so keep an eye out.
