On Reddit, user qobrosii shared an image of his version of a regional variant of Magikarp, and the art is so good that one one could easily imagine its inclusion in the future 10th Generation Pokémon games..
The artist explains that he imagines this Magikarp as a Normal/Ground typesuggesting that the environment in which it lives forced him to evolve without needing water to survive. In fact qobrosii He also mentions that his Magikarp would evolve into a Ground/Dragon type Gyaradoshinting that he is already working on art to illustrate this evolution.
