Now, here’s a handy-sounding device for any Game Boy fans out there.

The GB Operator, a cute little adapter from Epilogue, lets owners play and manage their collection of Game Boy cartridges on PC. Original Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance carts are all supported, and the application used to play the games can run on Windows, Mac and Linux.

We haven’t had the chance to try one out for ourselves, so we can’t speak for its quality first-hand, but the device uses mGBA as its core emulator which allows for controller and cheat support (yes, you can even trigger any in-game special events you might have missed years ago), an always-updating save file so you can pick up where you left off on an official console, and a system which lets you write games you’ve made to blank Game Boy cartridges.

Over on Epilogue’s website, where the device can be ordered for $49.99 plus shipping, it’s even revealed that the GB Operator can “detect most bootleg cartridges” which sounds ideal for retro collectors who want to ensure they have legit copies of their favourite games.

Any orders placed now will begin shipping in August. Make sure to let us know if this is something you’re interested in down below.
