Publisher Thunderful has announced that it has extended its distribution agreement with Nintendo to publish the company’s products in the Nordics and Baltics between Bergsala AB and Nintendo of Europe AG.
Confirmed via official statement (Thank you, Switch to Nintendo), Thunderful states that the contract, which was originally set to expire on March 31, 2024, has been extended for another two years.
Martin Walfisz, CEO of Thunderful Group, said:
“Thunderful and Nintendo’s unique relationship goes back to the early 1980s when our subsidiary Bergsala began distributing Nintendo’s fantastic products to consumers throughout the Nordics and Baltics. We are extremely proud of this long-standing partnership and look forward to years of continued close collaboration with Nintendo.”
Thunderful is of course a publisher in its own right, having published SteamWorld Build and LEGO Bricktales. However, Walfisz recently stated that Steamworld Build sales fell short of the publisher’s expectations over the Christmas period.
The publisher also recently went through a restructuring initiative to cut costs and focus on areas with the best growth potential; a move that ended up affecting about 20% of the total workforce.
