This past weekend, news on social media that Sony had begun to take action against certain uploads and projects in the latest issue of Media Mocule, Dreams. Mostly, Nintendo-themed them.
User name @Piece_of_Craft further sparked the twitter, explaining how they were interacting with the legal and business section of SIE Europe, as Nintendo reportedly "denied" the use of Super Mario IP in the game.
Now, according to an update on GamesIndustry.biz (thank you, GoNintendo), it is confirmed that Sony is working to take the Nintendo-themed universe further. Here is their exact statement:
Sony Interactive Entertainment notifies affected users that Nintendo's IP Violation Notification has been received and that the content will be deleted. We cannot comment on the volume of content to be removed, this is done on a case by case basis.
Looks like it's the only road to all this Super Mario redesign with dreams. Even though creators are trying to download them, from now on projects will be modified and released to contain copyrighted material.
It was fun while it lasted a long time, but for anyone who wants to play a 3D Mario title by cutting out some drawings it's probably best to stick with it Super Mario Odyssey to Change.
