Physical games tracker GfK Entertainment releases UK sales charts every week, but that’s not the only thing they do. There is also a release of sales data that takes place every month, and that also includes a chart of the best-selling video games for that month. For example, December 2021’s UK sales chart released today.
They also gave sales data on hardware, revealing that the Nintendo Switch was the #1 console of December. The Xbox Series S and X consoles were at #2, and the PlayStation 5 was at #3. According to the GfK’s panel, “it was another massive month for Nintendo Switch, which saw a 6% increase in console sales over November. November had already been a big month for Nintendo’s machine due to significant Black Friday activity around a new Mario Kart 8: Deluxe bundle”.
