@yohn777 I was associating crazy with a lunatic, which to be honest, you didn’t directly call me that, so we can stop that. And yes, of course you are “allowed” to have different opinions. Anything different is never stated or implied.

Ironically, some of those Star Wars games end up in regular sales, like the Podracer/Republic Commando bundle and Jedi Knight 2. I wish that was true of every Star Wars re-release.

Battling a bot for a title that goes up to $200-$300 on eBay versus underprinting certain games that have exceeded demand (like some Shantae Switch releases) isn’t infinitely better. Same BS, different take on it. Their insistence that nothing be printed is only for the benefit of whoever already got a copy when it was cheaper. LRG didn’t solve the FOMO problem at all.
And btw, go to Playasia and what will you find? Reasonably priced Japanese or SEA copies of several Shantae titles as one comparative example.

There are obscure games and then there are obscure games that people actually want. Games that get many, many requests. LRG should focus on them. Even they realized that some titles like Bill & Ted were not selling well. You can’t argue for LRG to expand their business and then in the next breath ignore their self-admittedly poor selling product. That doesn’t make sense. If you ran your business like that, you’d go bankrupt.

Your game buying habits sound exactly like mine; after housing and food, gaming and entertainment take up a large portion of my disposable income, as I’ve been a gamer all my life and love the hobby; as a past time, as a job, as an art form, the joy it brought me, whatever you want. cheers. 🍻

Oh, that’s totally fair about the major publishers point. Something I didn’t explain at all. Once Ubisoft, Konami, Sega, etc. do such a deal once, it will happen again. And again. And again. A giant multi-billion dollar publisher with decades of experience shouldn’t be using a boutique retail label, even though they’ve self-published these games in years past. The fact that these huge companies do this, and do it so often, is unheard of to me. They are not “Indie studio 154” with 2 employees, putting everything they have into making 1 game, let alone dreaming of seeing their game in physical form.
This goes back to my point above that many Japanese or SEA games can be found in regular retail like Playasia or Amazon Japan (like Shantae), but here in North America some games are held hostage by LRG/their publisher, when other regions don’t , which really bothers me. (The owner of wayforward and LRG have a close personal relationship, so Shantae is now always exclusive to LRG in North America).

I wish they would fix it. The only area where I can give them credit (see, I’m not unreasonable) is that their shipping rates have dropped dramatically, at least as of this year. What used to be $15 to play each time is now $7. They simply had to add a new flaw by taking away other payment options, so… 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Some independent stores like Videogames Plus or PNP Games here in Canada routinely stock a variety of LRG (and other) titles, so I try to use them if there’s an LRG title I REALLY want. They’ve already made the purchase, plus it’s usually cheaper since they get a volume discount (and $0 shipping) and it supports local business, which is easier on my stomach.
