Very short footage: Creative freedom in the indies, responsible for the evolution of the industry? – Nintenderos

Right now you are reading the ninth article of an idea that has been baptized as Short footage in which, in a brief text, I will talk about topics related to Nintendo and the world of video games in general with the intention of opening a debate about them.

A few years ago that independent video games have taken a key role in the industry, and my goal today is to explain why, in my opinion, they are responsible for making the medium progress.

One of the first cases that have come to mind has been Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, title whose basic premise is collect stories throughout the United States

. Personally (I am in charge of analyzing it, although I have not finished it yet) I am not liking it too much, but I do see a good number of excellent ideas that I hope to see repeated in the future. One of these is related to the movement of the character, since it moves somewhat monotonously, but if while we walk we whistle (pressing certain buttons at the right time) we will go faster, thus making our trip more enjoyable.

I can't think of any use to give it in a triple video game A, but I am sure that in a while we will find some similar system better developed (or not), but at least we will have evolved in some way, changing the general game scheme.

In this second example, let me tell you about a title that is not available (nor has any future plans to be) in Nintendo Switch: Elysium disk. Some time ago, while listening to an episode of Podcast Reload

I heard Victor Martinez Talk about the different, as well as fun, ways you could die in the game. One of them happens during a conversation in which, in the middle of the exchange of words, you are constantly insisted that you feel, in order to equalize the positions of superiority and that you are not in a higher position, but if you do you could die of discomfort (emptying the motivation bar) of the deplorable state in which the chair is.

This moment lets us see a great innovation from ZA / UM, the study in charge of the game, to find different ways to solve the same situation, leaving the final decision to the player, but doing something of the most everyday, such as sitting in a chair to have a conversation, a moment of nerves and strategy to keep you in an advantageous position.

With these small details, and now returning to the topic at hand this week, the medium moves forward thanks to the possible future implementation in more games, so, one day, to have the maximum good ideas in the maximum possible games, provided that large companies are willing to accept the risk involved in adopting new and mechanical positions.

I know that a much longer article could be made on this subject, but I think it is better to leave it here and give way to you.
