Nintendo surprised fans last week by dropping the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance libraries for Switch Online.
If you’re wondering how Nintendo’s official emulations hold up, the game developer and YouTuber A modern vintage player now he looked at the new libraries. The verdict is that these emulators are in great shape, especially compared to previous releases like the N64 collection:
“I think Nintendo knocked this out of the park…after the pretty flop of the N64 service when it launched, it took them a long time to get it right, but this one is very polished, works extremely well and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for both these services [GB & GBA] on NSO.”
Aside from a teaser of some of the games that will soon be coming to these new Switch Online apps, according to Nintendo, there is no set schedule for when they will add games to the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance libraries.
However, interestingly, the original GBA for Switch Online leak featured a bunch of discarded games. In addition to the launch titles, there were also games like Metroid: Zero Mission, Pokemon Pinball and Drill Dozer.
