Earlier this week we heard that Nintendo’s upcoming release The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom would be skipping PAX East 2023. In a statement, a Nintendo spokesperson mentioned that the company’s presence at the show will be dedicated to competitive gaming.
Now, in an official press release, Nintendo has announced that they will be bringing Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Championships to this event from March 23 to March 26. Nintendo fans will be able to watch some of the best players in North America do it. Participants will also be able to participate in the final qualifiers for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Championship Cup tournament (registration will take place March 25th at 10am ET in person and March 24th at 10am ET online).

All PAX attendees are welcome to come check out these action-packed tournaments featuring some of the best elite players in North America. The four best teams from Splatoon 3 The Splatsville Showdown tournament will compete in all ranked modes to see which squid team will be vINKtorious! The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe The Championship Cup 2023 tournament will begin on March 26 at 11 a.m. ET at PAX Arena, followed by Splatoon 3 2023 North American Championship Tournament.
As part of this showcase event, Nintendo will also be running a ‘NintendoVS Arcade’ where fans can try fun challenges in Mario Party Superstars, Yoshi’s Crafted World, Mario Golf: Super Rush and the original Super Mario Bros. game. There will even be special gifts for those who participate.
NintendoVS will also be running on-site and online sweepstakes, where players can win a special custom-made NintendoVS gaming chair. Online users can enter via I Nintendo. There will also be I Nintendo check-ins for two separate giveaways on the PAX show floor.
