Here comes an interesting compilation related to one of the most outstanding games in the Nintendo Switch catalog. We are talking in this case about Ys X: Nordicswhich will be released in 2023 with no specific date at least in Japan.
In the text that we leave you below, we can learn more details of the game offered by its director Toshihiro Kondo in a recent encounter with Famitsu. Here you have them:
“’Nordics’ is a term meaning ‘northern people.’”
“The time period goes way back, after the events of Ys I and II. Adol is 17 years old and is on his way to Celceta (which is mentioned in the preface of the Ys I manual!).”
Dr. Flair Rall travels with you.
“It is a story of boys and girls. Since this is the first time we’ve released it on Switch, the main characters are younger, and part of that was due to the user base.”
“There are only two playable characters (Adol and the girl with the axe). That being said, the action is dense and there are all sorts of things you can do.”
There are towns, but your base will always be your ship.
“Solo mode offers the usual high-speed battles [de la serie Ys]. Combo mode allows you to perform more powerful attacks, but the overall speed of the battle is slower so that you can fight more carefully. (The speed only changes in the case of Adol.) You can only switch to combo mode when you hold down a certain button, and return to solo mode when that button is released.”
“The defense has an important weight. Protection increases your revenge gauge, which can increase your attack power.”
“We have taken great care to adjust the difficulty level so that a wide range of users can enjoy the game.”
“There are special actions called ‘Mana Actions’. There is more freedom when performing actions in the air.”
“About 20% of the game is sailing your ship. There are maps dedicated to the ship, and ship battles occur when you encounter enemies. There is also a growth section (ie character development) on the ship.”
“We will release new images either early in the New Year or in the spring.”
“Hopefully the release date will be more or less the same as usual. (Laughter)”.
“We are quite aware of the challenge we are taking on in the new terrain that is Switch. Production is currently underway with the intent of making a game that both newcomers to the series and long-time fans can enjoy.”
