Now, let’s see what we get up to this weekend, shall we…?

I’m back in the world Silent Hill after watching the wonderful new trailer for Silent Hill 2 remake. I play OG Silent Hill on PS Vita right now, and you know what, it’s aged surprisingly gracefully; undoubtedly more than the original Resident Evil. It still retains a nice sense of atmosphere and dread.
I also recently decided to start a new playthrough of Pokémon Omega Ruby for some reason. I know it sounds like I did it reluctantly, but no, I just got the urge! I’m having fun with it, but I’m not sure how much I’ll invest in the next few days.

I became totally addicted to Kynseed. I think they intend to put it on Switch one day, but for now I’m playing on Steam Deck. It’s amazing! It’s from several exesFable developers, and you can see a lot of Fable DNA there (so many fart jokes), but it’s also really impressive how many systems and ideas they put into the game. It’s a real gem.

Since the release of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, my weekends have consisted of shaving off milliseconds of speed runs in various game modes until my thumbs hurt. It’s a title that set its hooks in and kept me coming back.
I just beat the ultimate Metroid Prime Remastered after putting it off for a while and now I’m turning my attention to Metroid: Samus Returns on 3DS (which would be a lovely Switch port). A friend also praised Slay the Spire and encouraged me to play it, so I’m finally going to try it out!

I’ll be traveling a lot this weekend for the UK holidays, so I’ll try to get 100% done with Super Mario Bros. Wonder how I would eat that long passenger ride. Wonder has been my go-to choice since release.
Once I’m settled in camp, it’s time to eat some joycons and play a bit of multiplayer Worms. Worms WMD’s 4-player skirmish has been an enjoyable part of group encounters lately.

Grim Fandango seemed so out of reach when I was a kid. Back in 1998, when I only had an N64, PC games were mystery boxes in the corner of Electonics Boutique and HMV. I never got around to playing them.
I recently picked up the Switch version on sale. I was expecting dry point and click, but exploring a fully 3D environment (well, pre-rendered Resident Evil-style wallpaper) is a pleasure. The writing is exceptional and full of character. Now I understand why it is considered a classic.
I haven’t played anything like it, and I will play again over the weekend. And I still want to finish the fun Dungeons of Dreadrock.

After polishing Wargroove this week, I’ve been dabbling in tactics a bit and finally got back to Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope with the intention of finally finishing it. It must be said, that game slaps. Right now I’m only focused on the main story, but I can see these side quests keeping me going for a while.
Elsewhere, I hope to spend some time with Pokémon Istery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team on NSO. This used to be an absolute staple for me, so I’m excited to see if I can still live with it after 18 years.

Nothing beats unwinding after a stressful week with an enjoyable game, so I’m continuing my spooky murder mystery investigation in the eShop demo for Emio – The Smiling Man: Detective Club Famicom. Hey, everyone’s definition of “enjoyable game” is different, okay? This multi-chapter demo already delivers everything I love about the FDC series — high-quality visuals, an intriguing story, and a heaping spoonful of eerie atmosphere. This has me pushing a bit for the full game to come out next week.
If I chew it too fast, I’ll probably light up Pokémon Istery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team on Game Boy Advance – Nintendo Switch Online for more postgame shenanigans. Anyone who thinks every Pokémon game is too easy hasn’t experienced the raw anxiety of entering the Monster House room on the 39th floor of a 40-story dungeon. Sigh.
