Obviously I’m going to play Penny’s Big Breakaway this weekend, come on now. I’ve put in about half an hour or so at this point, but once you get past the initial learning curve with the controls, it’s an absolute blast and I can see myself sinking hours into this and really perfecting my runs.
I was pleasantly surprised elsewhere Dead Island 2 I recently bought Xbox Game Pass, so I’m going to try it out. It seems like a quintessential ‘7/10 game’, but I’ve seen some impressive zombie gore tech floating around in the videos and I can’t wait to grab the crowbar and start whacking.

I recently dived back into Trombone Champ on the rapids. It’s a big hit with fams, especially the part where you turn cards into beef and create other cards from those beef pieces. It never gets old.
On the other hand, ignoring the bigger names in the backlog, I opened Astrologaster this week after putting it on sale over Christmas. I’m only a little into it, but the voice work and presentation are excellent. I look forward to seeing more of it. I had fun looking at the Blast Corps screens for ten minutes on Thursday, so some more therapeutic demolition is in order. Most importantly, Pocket Card Jockey finally

I’m finally done Great ace lawyer 2, so that means it’s time to start a new game on the Switch. I’m not quite sure what to dive into since there are so many games, but it’s either Pentiment, EarthBound, or Ace Attorney – Justice for All. Anyway, I’m excited to play some games this weekend; it’s always exciting when you have to choose the next chapter in your game story!

This weekend is a new game for me: Balatro! It’s a deck building roguelite, so that’s all I needed to know before I threw my credit card on the table. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s all about building the funniest deck of poker cards — with the nine of kings or a full deck of hearts — but I can already tell that it doesn’t have as much staying power as Slay the Spiral. It’s not really a problem, it’s just that sometimes you play a game in a genre you know so well that you can predict the next 20 hours. Sometimes it can be a little disappointing, even if you’re having fun!

I have a weekend full of demonstrations after the Partner Showcase! I picked up Unicorn Overlord — because I liked what I played a few weeks ago and need to see how it is on Switch — as well as Pepper Grinder. I think both will keep me busy for the next few days. I still have to finish Persona 3 Reload on PS5 before the a massive RPG is coming to the console next week. I’m sorry Switch.

After what seemed like an eternity my physical copy of DoDonPachi Blissful Death ReIncarnation finally arrived, making for one hell of a weekend to compliment the other games of the genre I’ve been tinkering with on my Anbernic all week. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is coming to its peak, but I’ll be listening to the game OSTs in the coming months. I also hope to spend some quality time with qomp2 and the sublime Mario vs. Donkey Kong. Among the RARE goodies on NSO I’ll be most looking forward to Blast Corps since I no longer have the crazy Killer Instinct skills of my youth.
Game of the week is Lords of Exile. Sometimes a game like this pops up on the eShop out of nowhere, but thanks to the lack of decor, it’s easy to miss retro masterpieces amidst the ubiquitous gear. Those who were lucky enough like me to stumble upon it will be rewarded with a tough challenge, memorable boss fights and a great soundtrack.
That’s what we have planned for the weekend, what about you? Take the following poll with the game you’ll be running over the next few days, then slide into the comments to tell us what other titles are on the cards.
