What do you wish you knew sooner in Zelda: Tears of the Realm?

Still here? Beautiful. Let’s start with…

Pure lining

Those of us who wanted to get our hands on the main story unknowingly skipped over Josha, Robbie, and the chance to get a fully equipped Purah Pad upon completion First The search for regional phenomena. Were Travel medallions and Car construction been a nice feature to use from the start? Absolutely. Was it devastating to only find out about them after spending over 50 hours in the game? That. Yes it was.

Even the abilities that we did we know it had hidden layers that we can’t help but think would be very useful in the early game. There were a few of us who were painstakingly leveling objects with the Ultrahand by rotating them, unaware of the fact that you can simply press ‘ZL’ with one selected and instantly turn it into a perfect base.

Holy happy people

And what about that tricky card? We diligently completed every shrine we came across so we could set up a fast travel point later, but it turned out that you can fast travel to the shrine without having to complete the challenge first – who knew?! (Many people, it turns out, but not us.)

The same applies to the depths. There is a notebook early in the game that very clearly suggests that there is a very direct relationship between the location of Shrines on the surface and Lightroots in the depths, but did we immediately accept it? No, we spent many, many hours wandering aimlessly in the dark. It was fun, but still.

It would be Ultra practical

We could say the same thing about Fuse. Come on, I am your I know that you can de-fuse your weapon and shields from the loading spinner? This writer didn’t (that was a 70-hour discovery I’ll never shake)…

Further useful discoveries — like using Ultrahand to remove flowers and fungi from the walls, freezing of water using ice objectsand use a bowl under the cherry blossom trees — came thick and fast after the 50-hour mark. If anything, it’s that despite a month of playing this game at every opportunity, we still haven’t even scratched the surface. Or the Deeps, or the Sky Islands, for that matter.

With a world this large, there are bound to be discoveries that slip through the net on your first playthrough, so with that in mind, we want to pose a question to you, fellow Hyrule Explorers. You can take the following survey to admit which of the above features you initially missed, then head to the comments to let us know any other things you really wish you’d stumbled upon sooner.
