Armed with the knowledge that more returning racers are coming, we immediately began looking through the back catalog of Mario Kart games gone by, reminding ourselves what familiar faces have yet to appear in MK8D. To our surprise and delight, there are actually a whole bunch of them, including the Kong family (Diddy, Funky, Jr., Dixie), Honey Queen, Pauline, and a bunch of others.
Now, we don’t know if these starters will be added in waves, with only one new face appearing each time, but that won’t stop us from picking the ones d likes to see the most — and we thought you might do the same.

We’ve skipped over all the Mario Kart Tour outfit variants to just focus on the characters themselves, so don’t expect to see the likes of Mario the Musician — though leave a comment if there’s a specific outfit you’d like to see.
