Although Nintendo announced that development on Animal Crossing: New Horizons would cease following the release of the Happy Home Paradise DLC and the free 2.0 update, not surprisingly, the Animal Crossing franchise will continue at some point. In this sense, one of the biggest improvements that this future installment of the saga could take advantage of would be the introduction of multiple villages.
As you know, most games isolate players in a single town, but there are exceptions like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, which has different places to explore.
These are the details so for some players it would be interesting that the sequel will feature several towns:
- Different save files: Having different save files would open up a wide range of possibilities to have different towns in a single game.
- Different designs and environments: This system would introduce the opportunity for players to decorate their cities in different ways and incorporate unique environments for different layouts. Mountaintops, pine forests, plains, deserts, and islands could become the framework environments for the different towns that players acquire.
- more villagers: It would offer the opportunity to gather more villagers and move the existing ones to new locations. Matching different species with different biomes could help players design more immersive environments.
- More goals to meet: Could offer multiple towns with dozens of objectives and goals to accomplish in each new scenario. For example, helping each villager design their perfect house or raising each village’s rating to five stars could keep players busy for months or years. Also, decorations and themed objects could provide an additional challenge, forcing players to adapt their styles in more coordinated houses, with services, shops and others.
At the moment it is unknown what this franchise will bring us, but we hope that the quality of Animal Crossing games will continue to increase with the next installments.
