The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu revealed that Square Enix CEO, NieR series producer Yosuke Saito, NieR series director Yoko Taro, and series composer Keiichi Okabe are all working on a new project. It is not clear whether this is the long-awaited sequel to the acclaimed NieR Automata or a spin-off or mobile-based game. Here’s what was said:
“I’ve been talking about wanting to do something with Yoko and Okabe for a while now. I’ll have something more complex to say in the not too distant future, so stay tuned. Maybe it’s NieR, maybe it’s not NieR. (Laughs.) That’s about all I can say for now.”
Former Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi,
“I do various things with the idea of creating something that doesn’t exist yet. I can’t fully commit to it, so most of it is left to the staff, but it becomes something very interesting. I look forward to the day when we can announce it.”
