The Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office said tonight that famed video game creator Yuji Naka has been formally charged along with Square Enix employee Taisuke Sasaki. Both were arrested last month after Naka bought ¥144.7 million worth of Square Enix shares after learning the company was planning to spin off Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, before the company officially unveiled it, knowing the stock would soar. Sasaki also bought 105 million yen worth of stock before Square Enix’s announcement. They have both were officially charged with the insider trading of the Tokyo Public Prosecutor’s Office.
