Zelda: Majora’s Mask Art Director Thinks Recent Games Are “Basic”

It seems that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom continues to leave us interesting statements about the franchise in general. In this case, they are related to Majora’s Mask.

It has been confirmed to VGC. She expressed her wish that she had contributed to another unique Zelda title before leaving the company, which did not happen. Imamura lamented that more recent Zelda games are so “basic”, as he aspired to create something more unique and with interesting twists, similar to the particular atmosphere found in Majora’s Mask.

“I wanted to do it one more time, yes,” he says. “The latest Zelda games they’re back to basics

and I wanted to do something a little more unique, with a little twist, in a weird, unique world, like Majora’s Mask.”
