Throughout the life of the Zelda series, the timeline has been a huge talking point with all sorts of information and revelations. With this in mind, it seems that the official update could be unveiled at ‘Nintendo Live 2024’ this weekend.
Nintendo fan site Vooks is present at this event in Sydney, Australia and has captured a photo of the official artwork focusing on the “history” of The Legend of Zelda series. Notably, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are completely “separated” in this graphic from the “Hero is Defeated” and “Hero is Triumphant” timelines. Here’s a look:
The official timeline can also be viewed at Nintendo’s Zelda websitewhich documents the creation timeline and then splits into a “Hero is Defeated” and a “Hero Wins” track (featuring Link’s childhood and adulthood).
So nothing here is necessarily new, it’s just a standalone Switch entry that has generated some interest online. Nintendo has previously mentioned that it only took the official timeline into account “to an extent” during the development of Tears of the Kingdom, and likes that there’s room for fans to fill in the gaps between games.
