HBO has long considered creating several Game of Thrones spin-offs, but so far only one of them has seen the light of day. That’s about to change with the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight series.
Production will take place between the events of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. The plot will focus on the adventures of two knights rather than the history of wars and conflicts between great houses.
Here is everything we already know about the new series from the world of George RR Martin.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight Plot
The new Game of Thrones prequel will be based on Tales of Dunk and Egg, a series of three stories by George Martin. It will cover the travels and adventures of the knight Sir Duncan the Great (known as Dunk) and his young squire, Egg (later King Aegon V Targaryen).
The events will take place 72 years after House of the Dragon and 90 years before Game of Thrones. The Tales includes three stories so far, and the first season is expected to focus on the first of them, titled The Hedge Knight. It covers the meeting of the Dunk and the Egg and the knight’s conflict with Prince Aerion Targaryen.
The official description of the series reads:
A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes roamed Westeros… a naive but courageous young knight, Ser Duncan the Great, and his little squire, Egg. Set in a time when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet faded from living memory, great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous exploits await all of these unlikely friends and incomparable.
George Martin himself said that The Hedge Knight reminds him of Game of Thrones:
The Dunk & Egg novels are complete stories that more closely resemble the A Song of Fire & Ice novels than the imaginary story of Fire & Blood. The stories come straight to the page, and our goal is to produce faithful adaptations of these tales for the screen.

What are the other Game of Thrones prequels?
The most essential prequel to Game of Thrones is Dragon House – whose second season will begin in the summer of 2024.
In addition to The Hedge Knight, HBO wants to create a series about what is called Conquest Aegon, which took place 300 years before Game of Thrones. The show will cover the arrival in Westeros of Aegon Targaryen, his sister wives Rhaenys and Visenya and their dragons.
Lord Corlys Velaryon, one of the major characters of the House of Dragon, will also receive his own series titled Sea serpentrecounting his risky journeys to the most mysterious places in the world.
The prequel titled 10,000 ships will cover the adventures of Princess Nymeria, who lived 1,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones. After the Valyrian conquest of her kingdom, called Rhoyne, Nymeria gathered a large fleet and sailed across the sea to Dorne, where she married a lord of House Martell.
HBO is also planning a animation taking place in Yi Tia jungle-covered country in Essos, which George Martin says is the fantasy equivalent of medieval China.
HBO is also planning a series called Snowon the new adventures of Jon Snow, whose fate in the finale of Game of Thrones disappointed many viewers.
