The smallest PC in the world? Possibly, at least when talking about a computer with a built-in desktop CPU and a GPU and not the low-power output. The fact is that AMD can provide "metal" when the popularity of a program like the Raspberry Pi reaches this new level DFI GHF51.
But, what software is integrating and what are your skills? What effective programs can be implemented and powered?
AMD – DFI GHF51: Ryzen and Vega as ARM and Raspberry Pi Competition
With this Mini PC AMD fits perfectly into systems other than the DFI handheld in terms of incredible size: it will only scale 84mm x 55mm, about the size of a queen of an industry such as the Raspberry Pi.
And that comparisons are inevitable, not only in its beauty and size, but in its structure. As for the technical aspects, some of it is a mystery, because the DFI does not reveal, for example, the specific processor to be used.
It is simply details that it will be a Ryzen R1000 Series, which can mean two very specific ways: R1505G or R1606G, because they are widely used in Ultra compact machines.
First of all we are talking about the first-generation Ryzen CPU with 2 cores and 4 threads at a power speed of 3 300 MHz that will be able to deliver a maximum TDP of 25 watts with a TDP of 15 watts ( DFI only specifies 12W, so it will be TDP Down).
The second example will fetch data without frequencies, since it will get 2.6 GHz base and 3.5 GHz boost. As for the GPU, we're talking about Vega 3 which has 3 CUs that make sense and that the frequency is first 1000 MHz, and in the case of R1606G it goes up to 1200 MHz (in both cases it will provide 2 x HDMI 1.4 HDMI 1.4: resolution up to 4096 × 2160 @ 24Hz)
Up to 8 GB of DDR4 3200 MHz single Channel
The most curious thing about this DFI GHF51 is that it is optional 2, 4 or 8 GB of DDR4 3200 MHz with UEFI boot and single Channel, something rare but understandable and sufficient for any operating system today.
The storage will be made by eMMC for installation purposes 16 GB, 32 Gb or 64 GB, and also sufficient to install, for example, Windows 10. It will include a full Mini PCIe, Intel network card I211AT or Intel I210IT with RJ45, USB type 3.1 Gen 2 C and HDMI marked and Micro HDMI output.
We will not forget the inclusion by the DIF of a DIO 8 btis and a SMBusand one electric 12V DC, which is always good news.
Finally, OS support is reduced Windows 10 64-bit IoT Enterprise and Linux, but there is no problem with the installation of any other version, at least for now. Surprisingly, the final missing price has not been revealed, but there are rumors that we'll be able to see it sometime in the third quarter.
