AMD boycotts games with FSR so they don’t have DLSS support?

Competition between brands has always been there, it’s normal, however, there are times when they reach points that we don’t know if we should call it funny or serious. In this case, we will focus on AMD and NVIDIA.

We’ll see what AMD is doing to slow down the gameplay for users of competing graphics cards, and how the other party is dealing with this problem.

War between AMD and NVIDIA?

And that they’ve discovered something about AMD that we’re sure their main competitor won’t like. Apparently AMD-sponsored games with FSR don’t have NVIDIA DLSS support, which is a bit odd to us, as the reverse wouldn’t happen. NVIDIA would offer this support for all games, both AMD FSR and Intel XeSS.

It’s even more interesting if we see that there are more DLSS titles on the market than FSR and XeSS combined. In the past 3 months, NVIDIA reportedly released 40 titles, while AMD reportedly didn’t even reach half of that, only 17.

If we look at some of the latest games supported by NVIDIA and AMD, we will notice that almost all NVIDIA sponsored games had DLSS support (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) on or shortly after its release. All except Battlefield 2042 included support. The only reason Battlefield 2042 didn’t have support for FSR 2 was because this enhancement technology wasn’t available at launch.

On the contrary, if we go AMD we will realize only 3 of these 17 titles received DLSS supportsomething way below its competitor and showing signs that it was done on purpose.

The wccftech site contacted the brand and this was their response.

To clarify, there are community sites that track the implementation of upscaling technologies, and these sites indicate that there are a number of games that currently only support DLSS (for example, see the link).

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution is an open source technology that supports a variety of GPU architectures, including consoles and competing solutions, and we believe that an open approach that is widely compatible with multiple hardware platforms is the best approach that will benefits developers and players. AMD is committed to doing what’s best for game developers and gamers, and we’re giving developers the ability to implement FSR in games of their choice.

Wccftech AMD Spokesperson

Everything suggests that, by chance or design, the NVIDIA titles are much friendlier than AMD-sponsored ones, so for some reason people with an NVIDIA graphics card are more generous, but you’ll get worse treatment. Therefore, it can be a good strategy from your competitors to get people to switch to AMD, even though it is likely that they will end up getting tired and copying their game.
