AMD’s Anti-Lag latency reduction feature hit the market as an alternative to NVIDIA’s Reflex. However, unlike NVIDIA, which implemented this feature directly into games, AMD offered this technology through the controllers. It’s not that this feature is better or better integrated into games or controllers, the problem is that the anti-tramp software For most games, they detected that the game files had been modified and would not allow them to run.
Seeing the mess AMD found itself in, the processor and graphics card manufacturer had no choice but to eliminate this feature and prompt users to update the application. Since then, AMD has completely changed its approach with this feature to reduce LAG and, instead of following the same path, has chosen to do the same thing as NVIDIA, working with developers to offer native support.
This new version of AMD’s antilag feature is called Anti-lag 2 and it works hand in hand with the graphics AMD Radeon RX 5000, RX 6000 and RX 7000, both available in laptop and desktop versions. They are also available in Ryzen 6000 series APU with Radeon graphics, but not on models AMD Ryzen 7000 with graphics based on the GCN architecture.
Counter-Strike 2 will be the first game to support Anti-Lag 2
The popular shooter Counter-Strike 2 will be the first game to offer integrated support for Anti-Lag 2. AMD has released a graphic with the announcement of the integration of Anti-Lag 2 in video games where the we can see how the latency is reduced in Counter Strikecompared to the first version which was forced to abandon as without it and with version 2 activated.
As we can see in the image above, depending on the GPU and CPU model and the resolution of the equipment, the latency can be reduced up to almost half, in models AMD RX 7900 GRE in 4K and RX 7800XT at 4K resolution. The latency reduction on other CPUs and processors is a bit less, but it is certainly lower than without this feature.
If you have an AMD graphics card compatible with the Anti-Lag 2 feature and you are a Counter-Strike 2 player, the only thing you need to do to start enjoying the latency is to download the latest version of the drivers, specifically version 24.5. 1 and download the most recent version of this title. Next, we need to access the Counter-Strike 2 configuration options to enable the AMD Anti-Lag 2.0 feature, an option available in the game’s graphics options.
AMD plans to release the Radeon Anti-Lag 2 SDK in the coming days so developers can start implementing it natively in their titles. So, within a few months or even weeks, most online multiplayer titles will implement it and thus reduce latency.
