At CES 2024, which is being held again this year in Las Vegas, a large number of computer peripherals and components were presented, in addition to the new generation of NVIDIA graphics cards with the super range and the AMD Ryzen 5 8000G processor range .
AMD took advantage of this show to present the new range of AMD Ryzen 8000G Hawk Point processors with AM5 socket and APU type, it therefore includes the graphics card and the Ryzen AI “XDNA” NPU for the 8700G and 8600G models exclusively. The 8500G and 8300G models do not include an NPU intended for artificial intelligence tasks.
AMD Ryzen 8000G processors
The new AMD Ryzen 8000G APU lineup consists of the following models.
- AMD Ryzen 7 8700G: 8 cores, 16 threads and Radeon graphics with dedicated NPU with 24 MB cache and a maximum frequency of 5.1 GHz. Introductory price: $329.
- AMD Ryzen 5 8600G: 6 cores, 12 threads and Radeon graphics with dedicated NPU with 22 MB cache and a maximum frequency of 5.0 GHz. Introductory price: $229.
- AMD Ryzen 5 8500G: 6 cores, 12 threads and Radeon graphics without NPU with 22 MB cache and a maximum frequency of 5.0 GHz. Launch price 179 dollars.
- AMD Ryzen 3 8300G: 4 cores, 8 threads and Radeon graphics without NPU with 12 MB cache and a maximum frequency of 4.9 GHz. Introductory price: not announced.
This new range of AMD APUs will arrive on the market from January 31
From AMD they claim that if we want get the most out of it For this new range of processors it is advisable to use dual channel DDR5 memory at a speed of 6000 MHz, memory which, if it includes the AMD EXPO certificate, is even better.
This new AMD solution aimed at the domestic processor market is undoubtedly a safe bet, as it allows users to benefit from two very important aspects. The first is that AMD confirmed a few weeks ago its commitment to the AM5 socket so if one wants to update the processor in the future, it will not be necessary to change the motherboard for a new one.
The second important aspect is that this new range of APUs has Zen 4 cores, so, if we want to expand the graphics capabilities of our computer, we can use a Radeon graphics card such as the RX 7900 bottle.
Best DDR5 6000 MHz memories
On the market we can find a large number of DDR 5 to 6000 MHz memories. Corsair, for example, offers us 32 GB with two 16 GB DDR5 modules at 6000 MHZ for just over 115 dollars. The RGB version of this same module is available for 124 dollars.
Corsair also offers us two 32 GB modules, for a total of 64 GB, DDR5 at 6000 MHz for 266 dollars. or four 16 GB DDR5 modules at 6000 MHz for 299 dollars.
If we seek 64 GB of DDR 5 memory at 6000 MHz, the manufacturer Kingston offers us two 32 GB modules EXPO certified for AMD for 305 dollars.
