In 2020, the game Among Us grew in popularity – first among Twitch streamers, then among gamers and finally among famous personalities, including presenter Jimmy Fallon and politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The mafia-style game of Innersloth brings together a group of teammates who attempt to complete tasks. However, the team includes impostors who attempt to kill the rest of the players. By observing each other’s behavior and coming together via voice chat, members must gradually eliminate those they believe to have bad intentions.
This style of acting has made its way to reality TV via shows like The Traitors and The Mole, so it makes sense to create a new scripted series around the popular whodunnit structure.

When is the Among Us animated series released?
No release date has been confirmed for the Among Us animated series.
Casting announcements have been pouring in throughout this year and the project has been in development since June 2023.
Therefore, a 2025 release date is most likely, but it is possible that it could arrive in late 2024. We should learn more in the coming months.

Who are the actors of the animated series Among Us?
Developer Innersloth has confirmed a slew of cast members. There are some big names in there, including Lord of the Rings alumni and sitcom stars from Fresh Off the Boat and Community.
The colors refer to the player shades in the game, and Innersloth also provided some brief descriptions of each:
- Randall Park as Redthe captain of the Skeld and a confident people-pleaser who failed to rise to the position of leader.
- Ashley Johnson as Violeta sarcastic head of security with trust issues and considered the “wet blanket” of the team
- Yvette Nicole Brown as Orangea soulless corporate HR professional known for firing employees via email
- Elijah Wood as Greenan unpaid intern who is just happy to be part of the team and will do whatever they are told
- Dan Stevens as Bluea charming and hot doctor who also has a doctorate in poetry
- Liv Hewson as the Black Mana geologist who oversees ore shipments and prefers rocks to humans
- Kimiko Glenn as Cyana gemologist who is interested in healing crystals and who “supervises the vibrations”
- Debra Wilson as Yellowa stubborn and prankster Ship Cook who is Brown’s best friend
- Patton Oswalt as Whitea rich competition winner who doesn’t want to contribute to tasks or get involved in drama
- Phil Lamar as Brownanother Ship Cook who is calm, supportive and responsible
- Wayne Knight as Limean engineer who believes in conspiracies, prepares for the end of the world and is afraid of intimacy.
Pink is the main color of the original game which does not yet have an actor. However, other characters were added later, including Maroon, Rose, Banana, Gray, Tan and Coral.
Owen Dennis will serve as creator and executive producer of the series. He is the creator of Infinity Train.
What will be the plot of the Among Us series?
No official synopsis has been revealed yet, but the source material gives us a very good idea of what to expect.
Among Us usually takes place on a spaceship, research base, or airship. Red’s official job title tells us that the series will likely go according to the first option because the spaceship is called “The Skeld.”
Regardless of which card you choose, crew members must complete tasks like rewiring, swiping keycards, or repairing shields to get the ship operational. They must do this before time runs out or the place will run out of oxygen.
Standing in their way are imposters: shapeshifting aliens who blend in with the crew, trying to make it look like they’re accomplishing tasks. However, they either kill other players or gain time, causing time to run out. They can also sabotage the map, for example by cutting off lights or communications.

Every time a crew member is killed, someone can report the body, and then the team must deduce who did the deed. Of course, anyone can lie, which makes people very suspicious of each other.
Nonetheless, the team must put it to a vote, and whoever gets the most is kicked off the ship, whether innocent or guilty.
When the party is down to a few members, impostors or teammates will win based on the number of people.
Since this is a series, we imagine that each episode could end with either the discovery of a dead body or someone being thrown off the spaceship.
Where will the Among Us series be released and streamed?
The Among Us television series is made by CBS Studios and Innersloth. No streamer is attached yet, but the CBS brand means Paramount+ is likely a home for the show.
This would make sense, as it’s home to the live-action Halo series and the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off, Knuckles.
