AMD brings us a new update of its graphics drivers, in particular the Adrenaline 21.10.3, which brings us updated profiles for the latest releases, including the official video game for the Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy and Age of Empires IV franchise, as well as the solution to various issues.
Historically, driver support by Radeon Technology Group, the GPU division of AMD and formerly ATI Technologies, has always been loose compared to its direct rival, NVIDIA. This has always been due to the fact that less capital and human resources have been spent on the subject of graphics controllers. However, a booming AMD thanks to the success of its Ryzen is catching up on this aspect and updates are becoming more and more regular.
Let’s see what the new drivers do for AMD Gaming graphics cards.
Optimizations for Guardians of the Galaxy and AoE IV
If you have AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT or 6800 XT as graphics card with Adrenalin 21.10.3 drivers, you can win up to 21% performance in the same mode of the game compared to using the previous version of the drivers, 21.10.2. AMD makes it clear in the fine print that to get this performance you need an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor with 16GB DDR4 RAM, so if your PC has a less powerful processor, the performance jump will be less. You should also not rule out that the new game profile uses Smart Access memory.
The new pilots not only bring new profiles for Square-Enix’s licensed Marvel game, but also for the following games: Riders of the Republic and Doom Eternal. While in the case of the fourth installment of the real-time strategy classic: Age of Empires, the performance leap is a awesome 45%
Fixed issues in Adrenalin 21.10.3
The main function of updating drivers is to fix issues caused by previous versions of them.
- If you own an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X or similar processor, you can now see all the options in the processor setting of the Radeon software that were not displayed before.
- Multimedia Athena Dumps folder no longer keeps growing to take up huge amount of space on your PC storage.
- Some users were experiencing flickering or downright black screens when connecting multiple monitors, this issue has been resolved.
- Battlefield V no longer experiences sudden crashes when using an AMD Radeon RX 6600.
- The image corruption caused by Radeon Boost while playing Cyberpunk 2077, especially with the RX 6700 XT, is gone.
Problems still to be solved
As usual, AMD recognizes a series of issues that it was unable to resolve with the latest version of the drivers, but which are in the process of being addressed. Let’s see which ones have not yet been fixed in Adrenalin 21.10.3:
- If you are a user of the Samsung Odyssey G9 C49G95T monitor and use the resolution 5120 x 1440 pixels and refresh rate of 240Hz, you may end up with artifact issues or image errors.
- The same types of visual problems occur in-game Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on AMD RX 6000 graphics cards.
- AMD Radeon software crashes if we play PUBG.
- Improved sync for black screen issues, AMD recommends leaving this option off for now if you experience this issue.
- Drivers keep giving incorrect and too high numbers for graphics card VRAM.
As always, we hope AMD fixes these issues in the next version of its drivers.
