Even though not everyone has room on their desk to use a dual or multi-monitor setup, it’s still very useful for almost anyone, whether for work or play, as it allows you to see several things at the same time. Now, ASUS has announced the launch of its new ZenScreen OLED MQ16AHa portable monitor USB-C which represents the top of the range of the manufacturer in this category, but for some unknown reason they have not announced their price launch… how high will it be?
And secondary monitor it’s something really useful on a PC. If you’re working, it lets you see multiple things at once, like email on one screen and Excel on the other. For leisure it is still very useful, since, for example, you can play on one screen and watch Discord or your OBS stream on the other. The downside is that not everyone has enough room to fit two identical monitors on their desk, and that’s where portable monitors come in.
ASUS ZenScreen OLED MQ16AH, your best USB-C monitor
As you can already guess since we are talking about a portable monitor, we are dealing with a monitor with USB-C connectivity, which already allows you to connect it to a PC or laptop using a single cable , without having to connect an additional power supply. It is very comfortable, and not only because you will have less cables around, but because it limits the use of plugs and multiple sockets and, in addition, allows you to put it on and take it off comfortably for the use when and where you want.
And now, as you might guess from his name, this newest member of the family Zen Screen from ASUS has a OLED matrix, which means we’re looking at a monitor with excellent color representation and one that can be particularly useful for creative users. It represents an update of the MB14AC model that they launched in 2020, updated with this new matrix that replaces the LED-IPS of its predecessor.
This OLED screen has a diagonal of 15.6 inches, so it corresponds to the laptop standard and can therefore be particularly useful to use in combination with them. Its color accuracy is Delta E <2 with coverage of 100% DCI-P3 color space10-bit color (1.07 billion colors), HDR-10, 100,000 to 1 contrast ratio and peak brightness of 360 cd/m2, peaking at up to 400 cd/m2. By the way, your resolution is Full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) with a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a response time of only 1 ms (GtG).
As video inputs, we can connect a cable to this monitor mini HDMI (includes a mini HDMI to standard HDMI cable so you can connect it to a standard HDMI video output on a PC) and two USB-C inputs. Of course, you should keep in mind that if you use the mini HDMI connector as the video input for this monitor, you will be forced to give it additional power via USB-C, because the use of a cable for power and data is only possible via USB-C, not via HDMI. USB-C, by the way, gives you up to 20W of power.
Finally, note that its dimensions are 358.7 x 226.15 x 8.95 mm and it weighs only 650 grams.
No release date or price
As we said in the title of this news, ASUS has not announced the price of this new ZenScreen OLED MQ16AH, although seeing the price of the rest of the brand’s USB-C monitors and taking into account its technical specifications that include the OLED screen, most probably we are faced with a product that when launched on the market will cost around 300 dollars. Of course, ASUS did not specify the launch date either, so we will have to wait to know these two unknowns.
