ASUS AURA Sync and ARMORY CRATE: how to install and configure them

Armory, ASUS, Aura, configure, Crate, install, Sync

ASUS-ARMOURY-CRATE-(1)

The brand has so many peripherals, so much hardware in so many product lines, whether new or old, that a minimum had to be set for ARMORY CRATE to be supported. The limitations were more about RGB lighting issues than pure hardware support, so it was decided to lay down a line and now provide said support.

Knowing all this and now being a software very much on par with its rivals and still constantly evolving, what does it really bring?

Control center

This is a rather particular panel because it depends exclusively on the hardware you have. Currently, soon after your motherboard is brand new, what this panel will reflect ranges from frequencies, voltages, and temperature to wallpaper and lighting options.

ASUS-ARMOURY-CRATE-(910)

As they say, same screen inside the ARMORY CRATE, different motherboards, nothing to see really.

devices

Here there is not much to say since the only thing we will see is a drop-down menu where we have all the company’s hardware and peripherals in our possession.

ASUS-ARMOURY-CRATE-(2)

Each of them, once clicked, will have its configuration and performance options, where again, the newer or more complete the device, the more options we will have to choose since its greater functionality. We also have a macro option which can be widely configured for use on different devices.

AURA SYNCHRO

This is undoubtedly the most dominant section of ARMORY CRATE and it achieves this on its own merits, as users want lighting effects everywhere. This has two tabs and a HUE configuration button, which is almost obsolete because the number of devices equipped with this technology is negligible today.

ASUS-ARMOURY-CRATE-(3)

By returning to the corresponding tab, the synchronization of the devices is individually selectable. For example, we prefer the AURA terminal to run the ambilight lighting effect in games and that’s why it’s out of sync with the rest of the lighting on the PC and peripherals.

The AURA effects tab is also very interesting to manage.

ASUS-ARMOURY-CRATE-(4)

Here we have all the effects available in the possibilities that ASUS offers by default, where each of them can be customized and we can even opt for AURA CREATOR if we do not have enough, a complementary and independent software to ARMORY CRATE that will allow us to create incredible effects with all ASUS products, totally to our liking, it’s worth trying, although it will take some time to understand how it works.

These profiles that we create can be exported with the drop-down menu in the lower area and thus all our devices and materials will be synchronized.

games library

It is a fairly simple section that will simply show the games installed on our system, which we can briefly configure in a few options. This is more of a retelling of them than an interesting section on its own.

ASUS-ARMOURY-CRATE-(5)

scene profile

Its very name indicates it. We can create various hardware and software configuration profiles for, for example, your brother, your girlfriend or just another regular gamer. This logically gives us impressive unlimited options, since even lighting synchronization is present.

Here we will have the brand offers for different scenarios. Offers of games, hardware or merchandising, through various options recommended by manufacturers, as well as a very interesting content platform.

We will just have to select between the tabs and investigate until we find what we like.

User Center

Simple: register with ASUS to be able to register the company’s products and obtain warranty extension, assistance or resolution of doubts.

ASUS-ARMOURY-CRATE-(8)

It is an essential section for the guarantee of everything you buy from the brand, as well as special promotions and other things.

Setting

Three tabs configure it: General Settings, Update Center and About…

ASUS-ARMOURY-CRATE-(9)

The first is simply to choose the aesthetics of the program itself based on three different skins: ROG, TUF and ASUS. The only thing they will change is the display of icon colors and shapes as well as typography.

The update center is just that, the place to update the various components and their firmware, as well as software including either lighting HALs or SDKs. It is an important section because it keeps growing and correcting errors, which sometimes take a short time to appear but take a long time to solve, it is a question of patience, in some cases we could say a lot of patience.

But it is that ASUS is a bit behind in this update, although today they are reducing the times a lot and it is rare that there are not improvements every month. Finally, the about section, which is also quite interesting, although it is not intended as such to improve or optimize anything.

ARMORY CRATE explained that we have to do the same with ASUS AURA SYNC because many users need this software so they can’t access the first one, so it’s handy to see the ins and outs of it because it’s still RGB lighting and configuration software in many components and peripherals.

ASUS AURA Sync

Big brands try to attract customers in the best way they know how: to offer quality and variety of options so that each user can choose according to their needs. In the case of LEDs Clearly they should be pretty much standard in any component or peripheral, including the chassis, but all of that wouldn’t make sense without software that allows synchronization and different effects.

Due to its size, volume and catalog, maybe Asus to be the biggest brand. For this reason, its software must support hundreds of different products and without any failure, knowing how to differentiate the different technologies that each of these products carries.

For this reason, ASUS began years ago its particular career towards the world RGB LEDs giving life to software called AURA synchronizationof which we will know all the details today.

Download and install

First, we need a AURA-enabled ASUS product (obviously), although it’s not an essential requirement, but then it can’t be used. Now we will have to go to the official AURA Sync page, where we can download not only the latest version but also wallpapers.

ASUS-AURA-SYNC-1

We will only have to download the latest version by selecting it from the drop-down menu and the compressed program will be downloaded directly in a Zip*: French. We will open this zip and double click on AsusSetup.exe to start the installation.

Asus AURA Sync 2

It’s nothing more than the typical “next, next, next” as there are no check or uncheck options.

When finished, it will notify us if we want restart the system so that the driver is loaded from its beginning. If possible, it would be recommended restart the pc to run the program normally.

AURA Software Setup

Now it remains only to open the program, where we will have a simple and neat interface.

Asus AuraSync 7

As we can see, above we have the peripherals or components which detects AURA, where to its right we can activate or deactivate the whole system with a simple On/off button.

The section just below consists of “synchronize everything” and “settings“. In the first we will see on the left all the light effects that ASUS components can achieve, where each effect will have its own configuration.

These effects are: static, breathing, color cycle, rainbow, comet, flash, ripple, yo-yo light, starry night, strobe, music and selected effect.

The configuration section is much shorter, since it only has two sections: HUE and effects in games.

Inside of TINT we have the section Adjusting the tint bridgewhere we can automatically search for external and internal lighting systems such as LED strips.

Asus AuraSync 19

this paragraph sync ASUS devices with certain games. For example, if we enter Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 with this setting active, our peripherals and components will switch to breathing mode in the same orange tone that characterizes the game.
