Lately, there has been a lot of talk about the launch of the next NVIDIA graphics cards which would arrive by the end of the year. If you want to prepare for these new GPUs, this new one might interest you. ASUS ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III power supply. This power supply has a large number of features, such as two 12VHPWR type connectors.
The new high-end NVIDIA RTX 50 Series graphics cards should have high consumption. Not much is known about these new GPUs based on the powerful Blackwell architecture. One thing is certain, they will be particularly interesting for AI.
Keeping in mind the current generation of graphics and those to come, ASUS updates its ROG Thor power supply. Concretely, this new version already comes standard with the new PCIe Gen5 connectors, which in the previous model required an adapter.
ASUS presents its new ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III
When we implement a new system, we must always leave room in the budget for a good power supply. We must choose quality brands, with certificates (which we must verify) and which have all the protections to protect our CPU and GPU, as well as the rest of the components.
The new ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III meets the latest industry standards. It is characterized by the inclusion of two 12VHPWR power connectors. More precisely, it uses the new 12V-2×6 which is an improved version to avoid the problems of the first generation of this connector which caused the RTX 4090 to end up burning.
What is very interesting about this PSU is that it can support up to three RTX 4090 graphics cards. We can power two of them through the 12V-2×6 connectors and the third through an adapter from 8-pin PCIe connectors.
This power supply from ASUS is designed for high-end systems and incorporates GaN MOSFET technology. Thanks to this, it offers high energy efficiency and an internal design optimized to minimize heat generation.
Something quite interesting that ASUS highlights is the inclusion of a patented intelligent voltage stabilizer. This system provides stable power to the graphics card. We do not currently have much more data on this mechanism.
Another notable aspect is that it incorporates an OLED panel that shows us the amount of energy supplied in real time. This allows us to know for sure how much our system is consuming at any time, especially when we are gaming. This panel attaches magnetically, so it can be installed on either side of the ROG Thor III.
Oddly enough, the source includes a “Turbo” button. This feature is designed to maximize power delivery in overclocked systems. This isn’t a feature for everyone, it seems more aimed at those who are into extreme overclocking.
As far as we know, the new ASUS ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III will only have a 1600-watt variant, as the company has not announced any lower-power versions. Indicate that there is no release date or price, but we can get an idea, since the ASUS ROG Thor 1600W Titanium costs 585 dollars.
