5.Nokia G22
It is the first Nokia phone to pull a leaf from Fairphone’s book and launch a truly repairable modern smartphone in the 2020s. The Nokia G22 has replaceable parts and a full repair kit and components are available at purchase if you need a new screen, battery or camera, among other things.
It’s a very affordable phone, which adds to the appeal. It looks more expensive than its price suggests, has great battery life, and a nice, simple version of Android without too many changes for fun.
But at this price, there’s a trade-off with a subpar screen and poor performance, but worst of all, only two years of guaranteed software support. For a phone sold with a promise of physical repairability, Nokia shot itself in the foot by not supporting the phone after Android 14 or security updates beyond 2024. That’s a contradiction. boring because the world needs more repairable phones. This one isn’t bad, but it could have been better.
