Theoretically, Nvidia launched the model today with 16 GB Dedicated VRAM RTX4060Ti, of which we had already analyzed the 8 GB model at the time of its launch. It’s a launch that, as the Americans say, was “silent”, since there was no announcement or press release… and not even a test model to show you if there is a real difference or not with the 8.Go model.
The 16GB model of the RTX 4060 Ti is, on paper, exactly the same as the regular RTX 4060 Ti but with twice the graphics memory, no more, no less, and with a 25% price increase for it- ci (the premium is $100, basically). Although it has twice the memory, it still runs on the same 128-bit bus and offers 18 Gbps bandwidth, so will there be a performance difference?
Why do you want an RTX 4060 Ti with 16GB?
The idea behind the launch of this variant of NVIDIA’s mid-range flagship graphics is to help in games with a lot of graphics load, in which the 8 GB that the previous model has is limiting performance. It would have been great to be able to demonstrate this theory to you firsthand, but as we’ve mentioned before, we haven’t heard of NVIDIA or a model assembler to review.
Above these lines we have inserted the performance graph provided by NVIDIA during the presentation, in which we obviously only see games with a large amount of graphics memory. As mentioned before, we would have liked to put this to the test personally so that we could tell you firsthand whether this memory boost is worth it or not… but it wasn’t possible.
Anyway, according to NVIDIA’s own data, the gain over the 8GB model is almost marginal in most cases, although in titles like A Plague Tale: Requiem you gain around 10 FPS, and 25 More FPS in Resident Evil 4 (2023 release). Yes, the gain can be quite significant in games that use a lot of graphics memory, of course, but few will consume more than 8 GB of VRAM and more when this RTX 4060 Ti is supposed to be designed for gaming at Full. HD resolution.
Ok, but have they released it yet?
Yes, as we mentioned at the beginning, the “silent launch” has taken place and, in fact, there are already RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB listed in some stores, such as PcComponentes where they can be purchased from 580 dollars , a price increase of around 116$ (in the picture, note that the Gigabyte “Gaming OC” models are the one on the left and the one on the right…the one in the center is not the overclocked model but the EAGLE , that’s why the price difference).
Sure, this launch strategy on NVIDIA’s part was a bit strange, but all’s well that ends well and that’s that in summary, anyone who wants to buy this graphics card because they need more VRAM but don’t don’t want to jump to the higher models, here is the possibility of buying it… with its additional price included.
