Although the price of graphics cards is falling, they are still quite expensive. An interesting option is to search second-hand pages, such as Wallapop, for “old” graphics cards. The NVIDIA GTX670 in its time it was one of the bestsellers and even today one can play LoL without major problems.
Just because NVIDIA or AMD releases a new generation of graphics cards every year doesn’t mean we have to upgrade. The GTX 670 graphics card was released in May 2012, and ten years later it’s still a great graphics card. We can play titles like Minecraft, LoL, CS:GO or Fortnite without any problem. In some cases, we still have to sacrifice a bit of graphics quality, but not a lot.
Minimum and Recommended LoL Requirements
Before we talk more about the GTX 670 and how it can be interesting to play LoL, we must know the requirements of this game. Note that the requirements are simple and it is not about a game in which graphic quality is a requirement. It’s also not a game that requires a high FPS rate, like Fortnite or CS:GO.
The requirements of this game are:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS | RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS | |
---|---|---|
PROCESSOR | -Intel Core i3-530 -AMD A6-3650 |
-Intel Core i5-3300 – AMD Ryzen 3 1200 |
GRAPHIC CARD | -NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT -AMD HD 6570 – Intel HD 4600 (integrated graphics) (Compatible with DirectX 10) |
-Nvidia GeForce 560 -AMD HD 6950 – Intel HD 630 (integrated graphics) (Compatible with DirectX 10) |
VRAM | 1 GB | 2 GB |
STORAGE | 16 GB | 16 GB (SSD recommended) |
OPERATING SYSTEM | Windows 8 / 10 / 11 | Windows 10 / 11 |
RAM MEMORY | 2 GB | 4GB |
RESOLUTION | 1024×768 | 1920×1080 |
As you can see, it’s not that it’s a very demanding game. We can play them with virtually any PC with hardware made within the last 10 years (or even longer)
Enjoy playing LoL with an NVIDIA GTX 670
The first thing is to review the specifications of the NVIDIA GTX 670 graphics card, which was released in May 2012. This graphics card is based on Kepler silicon, which is manufactured using the 28 nm process. This graphics card has 1344 CUDA cores, 2 GB of GDDR5 memory and can reach a frequency of 980 MHz. It has a 6+6 pin PCIe power configuration and in terms of video outputs it has an HDMI, two DVI and a Display Port.
One good thing about this graphics card is that it does not work for ether mining, because it has less than 6 GB of VRAM memory. Indeed, Ethereum’s DAG is larger than 4 GB. For those who don’t know what it is, it is a kind of file that is stored in the VRAM of the graphics card.
This graphics card, combined with a Core i7-2700K, it can exceed 200 FPS in 1080p resolution. About the Intel Core i7-2700K processor, it was released in 2013 and has 4 cores and 8 threads. This processor operates at a frequency of 3.5 GHz and in Boost mode it can reach 3.9 GHz. Note that this processor supports up to 32 GB of DDR3 RAM.
For this combination of graphics and processor, we put 16 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD and we have hardware to go through a long time. You don’t need to have an RTX 3090 Ti or a processor that runs at “gigabost” frequency to play LoL.
How do these graphics perform in-game?
As always, performance will vary depending on the graphics quality and resolution chosen. The good thing about this graph to play LoL is that we can exceed 200 FPS in 1080p resolution or bin 60 FPS in 2160p resolution (so called 4K). We will be able to play at high resolutions without major problems, at least in principle.
One good thing about LoL is that the amount of FPS is irrelevant. It’s not like in CS:GO, for example, where the more frames per second, the better. Here it runs in the background.
We leave you this table so that you have all the information:
1080p | 1440p (2K) | 2160p (4K) | |
---|---|---|---|
great quality | 198.5 frames per second | 110.2 frames per second | 44.1 frames per second |
High quality | 278.7 frames per second | 171 frames per second | 78.5 frames per second |
Medium quality | 359 frames per second | 231.7 frames per second | 112.9 frames per second |
low quality | 519.5 frames per second | 353.2 frames per second | 181.7 frames per second |
The data presented in the table was obtained from GPUcheck. This data may not correspond to the performance achieved by the average user.
