As we well know, China It is not a country that likes to rely too much on most Western technologies, because among other things, there are usually many obstacles when exporting products from a Western country to this Asian region. In this case, China I would look to choose to implement the operating system developed by Huawei, HarmonyOS in general, therefore, they created a plan to promote the development and implementation of this operating system.
The operating system HarmonyOS open source is the Android-based alternative that created Huawei facing a series of sanctions from the United States in 2019 that allowed the Chinese company to continue manufacturing and selling its high-end mobile phones. Now, years later, this operating system can compete with Western solutions, making the country aware of the potential it has, which led to the development of a plan for its implementation.
The plan to boost the use of HarmonyOS
Over the past few years, we have seen how US sanctions have greatly affected trade with China, forcing the Asian country to invest a lot of money and effort in creating its own plans to build and obtain the necessary means to develop its own technologies. In this way, the Asian country experienced a great change that gave it the opportunity to achieve a change that surely already had in mind, but which was accelerated thanks to the sanctions and obstacles that the North American country has set up against China.
In this way, some local governments are beginning to act to bring national technology to another level, as may be the case of the city of Shenzhen, in which the government has decreed an “Action Plan to Support the Development of native open source applications. HarmonyOS in 2024”. This plan aims to strengthen the presence of the operating system developed by Huawei in the city, seeking to make a change in the city’s software with the objective of having a minimum of 10% of the total China of applications based on HarmonyOS by the end of 2024.
How does this action plan work?
One of the first factors considered in this action plan is the need to find developers who work on creating applications for this operating system, as well as people who can actively improve HarmonyOS. The Shenzen government knows perfectly well how to achieve this, and to facilitate the mobilization of companies towards this environment, the municipality plans to create two large industrial parks focused on the development of this software.
Shenzen calls on more than 1,000 companies to start providing their workers with the necessary facilities so that they can obtain a series of talent qualifications for the development of HarmonyOS. The goal is to create a large division focused on the development of this operating system, an extremely ambitious project whose objective is to reach a fairly high number of developers working on this project, since they want, neither more nor less, reaching half a million developers focusing on this software.
