For some time now, we have noticed that most monitor manufacturers are adding models with OLED panels to their catalog. In fact, LG is considering stopping manufacturing LCD Panels to focus its future business on this type of panels which, as we all know, offer superior quality with brighter colors and deeper blacks.
OLED panels, whose technology continues to evolve, are much more expensive to manufacture than backlit panels, so their final price is much more expensive. However, this does not mean that individual and professional users do not bet on them.
OLED monitor shipments increase 121%
As we can read in the latest report published by TrendForce, 2024 is off to a very good start for OLED panel manufacturers, whose shipments reached 200,000 units during the first quarter.
This represents a significant increase in the number of shipments compared to the same quarter of 2023 of 121%. For the second quarter, shipments are estimated to reach 500,000 units, almost the same total number of shipments of OLED monitors in 2023. TrendForce began collecting these types of statistics in 2023, which is when monitor manufacturers began contributing very heavily to this technology.
The spectacular growth that OLED monitor shipments are experiencing is due to the fact that manufacturers are betting a lot on this technology, launching new models from time to time, so the offer is wide.
By the end of 2024, the number of OLED monitor shipments by manufacturers is expected to reach 1,342,000 units, an increase of 161% from 2023. By 2025, sales estimates will increase by one million more, to reach 2,350,000 units.
