The imminent release of PSVR 2 has been a jug of cold water for users of current SONY reality glasses, as they have found that games designed to use the device for the next generation will not work for the new glasses. However, if you have a computer, you should know that there are a way to use your PSVR on PC. We explain how to do it.
We’ve been calling for affordable VR glasses for computers for a long time, not those devices that you have to take out a mortgage to get one. Since there is no harm not coming, many users of the original PlayStationVR will be selling them in the coming months before the HMD for PS5 arrives, so this will be the perfect opportunity to switch to VR for very little cost. In addition, we were able to see them for less than 90 $.
How can I use PSVR on PC?
First of all, We have to clarify that we are going to talk about how to use the original PSVR, those that were sold for PS4 and not the new model, which will only be compatible with PS5 for a long time. We are talking about glasses with a Full HD resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Therefore, they are ideal for computers to play in the mid-low range in the middle of 2022. Honestly, we recommend you to discover some genres under virtual reality, especially the driving genre, where in this case you can even save on the purchase of a large screen, without forgetting the games designed for VR.
You need to connect your PSVR to the PC as shown in the following diagram:
You will need to install an app
Let’s not forget that PSVR was not designed to be used on PC, so a special application will be needed for this.
-
- Trinus PSVR is the app you will need to download.
- Once you’ve done that, locate the executable on your computer, right-click on it, and run it as administrator.
- Select install, during this process the app will search your Steam folders.
- You will be able to use SteamVR compatible controllers and peripherals to play the game.
- The main window with several tabs will open.
- Select the one called Main on the left of everything.
- From the drop-down menu, select PSVR screenand and click the button DISPLAY1
- Select VR option in PSVR MODE, from then on you can already use your PSVR to browse.
- If you are having trouble, note that Windows will have detected the PSVR as a new display.
- Set in the system settings the 1080p resolution y 100% dpi
- If your graphics card is from AMD, you must use a 4:4:4 pixel aspect ratio y disable virtual super resolution.
That’s it, you will already have your PSVR connected to the PC to be able to enjoy your games using a keyboard and mouse, a controller compatible with each game or even a steering wheel if you wish . The app also lets you use your mobile phone as a remote control for motion control, but we don’t recommend this as it could get out of control if you’re a little clumsy. In case you want to use the official PS Move controller and not the SteamVR one, you need to download the following application.
Regarding tracking, the application can use any webcam to track the glasses. We recommend a webcam that can achieve high refresh rates for a good experience.
