Our Verdict
The Dreame Z10 Station is an advanced and efficient stick vacuum cleaner with automatic emptying that makes everyday life much easier. It has strong suction, is easy to handle and has an efficient filtration system. The fact that it’s also beautifully designed is a plus. Of course it requires a dedicated space, but we really like it and it deserves a high rating.
Cleaning technology in our homes requires more and more space. Some robot vacuums now have huge charging stations containing tanks of clean and dirty water, as well as dust bags. These are increasingly bulky pieces of equipment designed to eliminate pollutants present around the home. Plus, in the winter, many of us like to add a humidifier or dehumidifier to an already considerable arsenal of products designed to keep our homes clean and fresh.
Design and build
Recently, this trend has extended to the cordless vacuum cleaner product category. As we all know, when it’s time to empty the small dust bin embedded in the trash can, it usually means a cloud of small particles swirls around and spreads around the room. It’s not great, but there is now a solution to the problem. Yes, you guessed it: an automatic emptying station.
Dream
Samsung, with its Bespoke Jet model (see our test to find out more), was the first to offer such a solution and now Dreame is joining the trend.
The Dreame Z10 station, as the model is called, is a large piece of kit that takes up a lot of floor space. However, you won’t need to mount a wall bracket, with ugly holes in the wall, as is the case with many stick vacuums, and if you decide to move it, it’s simple.

The design language is clear and simple and the base station and stick vacuum exude quality. The main unit features a contemporary pistol grip and the matte finish feels great in the hand.
On the rear panel, facing the user, there is a display that shows the remaining battery life and the selected power mode. There are also two buttons, one to choose the mode, the other to lock the vacuum cleaner in active mode so you don’t have to hold the trigger while vacuuming.
It’s user-friendly and logical, but unfortunately there is no auto mode with an associated sensor which adapts the suction power depending on how dirty the floor is. If that’s a feature you’re looking for, check out our review of the Shark Detect Pro, which you can purchase with a self-emptying dock.
The battery at the base can be removed and replaced with a fully charged battery, that is if you live in a small castle and need longer suction time than (up to) 65 minutes provided by the battery.
Performance and Features
The vacuum cleaner and base station come with a set of cleaning heads and nozzles, two large and three smaller ones intended for different uses. For the little ones, you also have a small storage rack.

The suction power is specified at 150AW, which is more than enough to vacuum up dirt effectively. The vacuum cleaner is easy to handle and I can get my hand under the bed, sofa and other low furniture without any problem. With blue light technology on the front of the main nozzle, dust on the floor surface is illuminated, allowing you to quickly see where you might need additional vacuuming. It’s not as effective as Dyson’s laser counterpart, but still very useful.
Andreas Bergsmann
Once the cleaning session is finished, simply place the vacuum cleaner on the base station, press the dedicated automatic emptying button and the dirt is sucked into the dust collection bag which contains 2.5 liters full, which in turn only needs to be replaced a few times a year (two bags are included).
It’s convenient and a good option for allergy sufferers, who don’t want to get a cloud of dust in their face every time they empty their vacuum.
Should you buy the Dreame Z10 station?
We recommend the Z10 station. But at this stage the key issue is its international availability. If you can’t purchase it in your area, we’ve looked at some great self-draining alternatives. Take a look at our reviews of the Samsung Bespoke Jet and Ultenic FS1 for a cordless vacuum that comes with an auto-empty dock. Unlike the Samsung and Ultenic, the Shark Detect Pro doesn’t come standard with a self-emptying dock, but it can be purchased in a bundle with one.
