Dyson Zone headphones are one of a kind, offering not only the ability to deliver a premium audio experience, but also the ability to clear the air around you, allowing you to breathe easy in a world of air pollution. air rises.
The concept was first revealed earlier this year, but now we have more information on the upcoming hybrid headphones, as well as our first look at its price and release date.
While the actual design of the Zone Earbuds and accompanying visor will take some getting used to – it looks a bit Bane-esque with the visor attached – the benefits of the Zone Earbuds outweigh away on the potential fashion faux pas.
The cans work by using tiny motors built into each earbud to channel air from the environment and purify it using an electrostatic media that extracts dust particles (and even Covid-19 particles, according to Dyson) of the air, which makes it much cleaner.

This purified air is then delivered to your mouth and nose as a “bubble of clean air”, with a special mesh finish that makes it feel more like a light breeze than a direct airflow – in my limited experience with cans so far anyway.

These aren’t just a basic pair of headphones with air-purifying technology; Dyson spent a plot time and money learning about the audio market to deliver a premium audio experience that lives up to some of the best cans on the market in 2022, a real achievement considering this is the the company’s very first audio product.
The Dyson Zone concept sounds simple, but it’s anything but; Dyson engineers spent over six years developing the concept, with a huge amount of research and development going into the design of the motors and the associated housing – it’s a bit difficult to keep the motors inches from your ears to be audible, after all.

In fact, Dyson confirmed today that there is an initial delay to the initial “Fall 2022” release window announced by the company in March.
The updated schedule has allowed Dyson to make more changes to the design and performance of the cans, which are now due for release sometime in January 2023 in Chinafollowed by a release in the United States, United Kingdom and Southeast Asia in March 2023 — a full year after the reveal.
The company has also, for the first time, confirmed prices for upcoming cans. Although not as large as some estimates, the Dyson Zone headphones will start at a sizable £749 and will come in three color options; Satin Silver/Ultra Blue, Ultra Blue/Prussian Blue and Prussian Blue/Bright Copper, the latter set available exclusively from Dyson Direct. US pricing has yet to be confirmed.

The £749 RRP makes the Zone headphones comfortably more expensive than the most premium consumer headphones on the market, with the £379 Sony WH-1000XM5 half the price and even Apple’s £549 AirPods Max at £200 less, but the unique combination of built-in air-purifying technology and high-end audio performance means it’ll still be a tempting option for some.
The company also confirmed other details about the upcoming cans, including the use of Bluetooth 5.0, a 50-hour battery life (without the air-purifying technology) and a three-hour charge time.
While battery life is nothing to sniff at, it’s worth noting that Dyson claims usage time drops to around 4 hours when using the headphones and purification technology together.
