Foldable phones have hit hard in recent years and, without a doubt, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip was one of our favorites from the start.
Now, it looks like the popular Korean company is working on the next model, which is expected to arrive in 2022. That’s all we know about the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
When will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 go on sale?
It’s currently unclear when the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 will arrive, but rumors are swirling that point to possible release dates. The release dates of previous models also serve as a guide.
Some articles quote a Korean tech blogger who wrote on social media about Navar that the new model will follow the same schedule as previous generations.
To tell the truth, if we look at the release dates of the previous Galaxy Z Flips, they do not follow the same pattern:
Thus, it seems that this rumor is rather pure speculation. Another clue, however, is that Samsung seems to be timing the Flip’s arrival with the launch of the Z Fold models. That’s why the Flip went from version 1 to 3, to match the Fold 3.
Since arriving in 2019, the Galaxy Z Fold usually arrives in September or, as happened with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, in late August. Thus, it is very likely that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (and the Fold 4) will arrive in August or September 2022.
How much will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 cost?
Again, nothing is confirmed, but we can take a look at previous generations to find out how much the new Flip might cost at launch:
- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip: $1,349
- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3: $1,049
The price went down with the second generation, probably because production costs went down as well. As with any first-generation product, you typically pay a price premium to use the latest technology.
We generally recommend waiting for the second or third generation, not only to give the company time to refine and fix the issues, but also to save you money.
Now, it seems unlikely that Samsung will decide to drop the price even further, so don’t expect less than $1,000 for the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
What specs will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 have?
Obviously we continue to speculate and reproduce the rumors that are circulating at the moment, which we hope to be able to contrast often as Samsung confirms the news of the next generation.
The Flip 4 would arrive with several new features, such as a lighter case, but with the same dimensions. This will come with an improved hinge, which is good news given that this is always one of the design weak points of any foldable mobile.
With the Galaxy Z Flip 3, the series introduced IPX8 water resistance. It could also get better, although we understand this rumor to mean it will also be dust resistant.
According to GSM ArenaSamsung will include a camera selfie under the screen. Despite this, several prototypes are in development and some of them show the punch-hole screen of the front camera. The company would do some testing.
Rumors of the battery having the same power as the Flip 3 might be disappointing. It makes sense considering the case will have the same dimensions, but that also means you’ll need to charge it often.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor could become a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but models with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage would continue to be offered.
