The first day of this year’s Mobile World Congress and we have already been surprised by the charging speeds of new models from some brands such as Honor, Oppo or Realme.
Being able to fully charge the battery of a mobile phone in a short time is something that more and more users take into account when buying a new device. Some brands like Apple are still lagging behind in this area, far behind some Chinese brands.
Honor has just presented the Honor Magic 4 Pro, already considered the mobile with the fastest wireless charging on the market. On the other hand, the Realme GT Neo 3 will charge the battery to 50% in just 5 minutes, and Oppo’s SuperVooc 240W should charge it to 100% in just 9.
But how is all this achieved?
Realme, the fastest charging in the world
Although the official presentation of the Realme GT 2 and GT 2 Pro got all the attention, the brand’s visit to Barcelona also served to present what they say is “the fastest charging in the world”, which would arrive soon with the GT Neo 3.
This is said to be compatible with UltraDart fast charging, which offers speeds of 150W. Realme promises this will mean you can recharge the GT Neo 3’s battery to 50% in just 5 minutes.
It’s worth remembering that the company already talked about this new technology in 2020, although it was then promising speeds of 125W. The UltraDart charging architecture was designed for devices with loads between 100 and 200W .
It is important to note that despite reaching these speeds, Realme uses a heat management algorithm so that neither the device nor the adapter ever exceeds 43 degrees and thus avoids overheating problems.
On the other hand, Realme also guarantees that there will be no battery degradation issues, as these batteries will retain 80% of the original battery capacity after 1000 charging cycles (in the case of ‘Apple, i.e. after 500 cycles).
Honor presents the mobile with the fastest wireless charging
Honor’s visit to MWC 2022 served to showcase several products, including the new Magic 4 mobile series. Only in the Pro model can we find 100W fast charging, both wired and wireless. wire.
Thus, Honor has just presented the fastest wireless charging that can be found on any mobile on the market. Obviously, you will need a compatible charging base (which will have to be purchased separately).
According to the company, these speeds should charge your battery from 0% to 50% in just 15 minutes. Wireless charging isn’t as powerful as if you were using a cable, because then you should be able to fully charge it in half an hour.
As always, such high speeds always bring into question how much it will affect battery health and whether it will lose quality with use. For now, we only know that the Magic 4 Pro’s 4,600 mAh battery should last a full day.
Oppo, the fastest charging not yet available
Meanwhile, Oppo has taken the opportunity to introduce what is the fastest charging in the world, although it is not yet available on any of its mobiles. When it does, it will surpass the one presented by Realme.
This is the 240 W SuperVooc Flash Charge fast charge, which allows the battery to be recharged from a smartphone to 100% in about 9 minutes. Obviously, this is only achieved by using a cable and not by wireless charging.
They also submitted the charge shine 150W SuperVooc, which will be able to charge the battery to 50% in just 5 minutes. Rather, it will take you a quarter of an hour to fully charge it.
In this case, the battery performance remains at 80% after 1,600 charge cycles, which is far more than other brands (industry average is usually 800 cycles, just half).
