Technology and tradition can go hand in hand. The proof is that this year you can participate in the famous Flower Offering to the Virgen del Pilar on line, through the metaverse.
Many media have echoed this Imascono project, a technological company thanks to which we will be able to (virtually) flower the Pilarica wherever we are.
In addition, the space of the metaverse in which you can immerse yourself will host the entire Plaza del Pilar: you can visit it, visit its different information points and see audiovisual content in this 3D digital space that Imascono gives us hand of the town hall of Zaragoza.
So, this year, all of us who have this spatial connection with Zaragoza will be able to be part of a tradition that many of us have lived since childhood. In my case: from abroad and, surely in pajamas, I will make my offering to the virginic.
We have gathered all the necessary information to tell you how you can participate in the flower offering in the metaverse.
We explain it step by step.
How can I participate in the pillar offer from the metaverse?
The first thing you need to know is that you won’t need to install any app. You can access it via the web version dedicated to the Flower Offering.
The second thing you need to know is that you will still have to wait to enter the metaverse and visit this virtual Plaza del Pilar. As you can see when you enter the web it will be October 8 to 16 when possible this digital tour.
This year, you will be able to have your own virtual avatar and also play various mini-games or participate in specific challenges that unlock initially hidden features. This makes being able to walk through this virtual square an experience: you will see in different parts of the metaverse videos on TikTok related to holidays and you can participate in a international draw to travel to Zaragoza in the pillars of 2023.
But, if we return to the question that gives the title to this section: how can we make our offering in this metaverse?
Obviously, we haven’t been able to access the 2022 virtual offer yet (we’ll have to wait until the 8th), but based on a video tutorial on the 2020 virtual offer, here are the steps you’ll probably need to follow:
1. Access the web portal www.ofrendadeflores.com.
2. Click on ‘Start’.
3. You will enter the Metaverse. You will have to walk yourself (your avatar) to the Virgo flower pyramid.
4. Before making your offering, you will be able to walk around the square, watch the videos and interact with all that interactive content that we have mentioned in the previous paragraphs.
5. The controls in the 2020 video tutorial tell us that to move around the square you can move forward using the arrow keys on the keyboard, rotate with the mouse pointer; collect the pointer with the ‘Esc’ key and take screenshots with the ‘F’ key so you can share them with your friends on social networks.
6. When you get to the pyramid of flowers, you will surely see an icon that you can click on and that will take you to a catalog of flowers to be able to choose the one you prefer: red, white or yellow carnations (this year you can that there are more kinds of flowers for you to choose).
7. Here’s one of the nicest parts: once you’ve chosen the bouquet, you can leave a message with your name and location (if you wish).
8. Once your message has been written, all you have to do is click on ‘Next’. An image will appear with your offer and a message. You will have the option to save an image with this memory so that you can share it yourself if you wish.
And, in this way, you will have participated in the Offering of the Pilar Flower in 2022!
Although not the same as being able to attend in person, it is definitely a novel and different way to deal with homesickness (especially for those of us who are far away) and continue to participate in this tradition that we love so much. We’ve had it since we were little.
