Remember when Pixel phones were significantly more affordable than the same generation iPhone or Samsung Galaxy, and you didn’t have to wait for an A variant to get a good deal? I do. It was nice.
If you’re still a Pixel fan but are also a deal hunter, maybe check out the new refurbished section of the official Google Store. It offers deep discounts on phones with a full one-year warranty.
At the time of writing, the store is offering discounts on Pixel models in the US only (spotted by Android Central). Here’s a quick overview of the phones and prices:
- Pixel 6a – $249
- Pixel 6, 128 GB – $339
- Pixel 6, 256 GB – $389
- Pixel 6 Pro – $539
- Pixel 7, 128 GB – $429
- Pixel 7, 256 GB – $479
- Pixel 7 Pro, 128 GB – $629
- Pixel 7 Pro, 256 GB – $679
- Pixel 7 Pro, 512 GB – $779
Note that different capacities and colors will go out of stock depending on fluctuations in Google’s supply of returned and repaired phones. Noticeably absent are the new Pixel 8 and 9 series phones, but will likely show up at some point, especially as the company’s main store inventory gets low and it looks to clear out inventory.
You may notice that there’s a distinct lack of Pixel Watches offered in this area of the Google Store. This is because Pixel watches are basically impossible to repair. The only ones available for this program are therefore open box items. Google may or may not open sales of refurbished products outside of the US… but if that happens, I suspect it will take a while.
Getting full support from Google is pretty good, but I should point out that you can often find better deals on these phones. For example, a quick search on Amazon shows a brand new Pixel 7 Pro 128GB for just $405. And if you agree to a “renewed” phone, you can get a Pixel 6a for just $184, but with no warranty. That extra peace of mind might be worth the extra you pay in the Google Store.
