Although you may not remember it, Fake is one of the oldest computer hardware manufacturers, and it may not be familiar to you because it hadn’t shown signs of life in quite some time and, in fact, there was even speculation about its possible closure as there was a time when they did I don’t even answer support tickets. However, the Japanese manufacturer has just announced the launch of the Mugen 6his new high-end heat sink which shows that they are still alive.
The Japanese brand Scythe has always been characterized by two things: first, by the sober and simple designs of its heat sinks, with an almost minimalist but elegant aesthetic. Second, because its simple-looking heatsinks always delivered extraordinary performance that apparently didn’t match the size of the heatsink.
Scythe resurrects with the new Mugen 6
Among the entire Scythe catalog, we find several models of heatsinks that have always stood out for one thing or another… models like the Big Shuriken or the Kama are quite well known, but if there is a heatsink that is legendary in the Japanese manufacturer’s range, it is the Mugen, their best-selling heatsink and which has had the most revisions and versions in the entire history of the manufacturer (although they have now announced the Mugen 6, in reality it has more than 10 different revisions because they have always launched new models with slight modifications to refine its operation).
As you can see in the image, the Scythe Mugen 6 is a single tower heatsink cooled by two 120mm fans. It has six heat pipes of 6 mm in diameter and has dimensions of 132 x 106 x 154.5mm so it should not cause compatibility problems in any ATX format case and, of course, without problems with any type of RAM, but be careful with the information because despite its relatively compact size weighs 1.01 kilograms
The two fans included are the 120mm Scythe Wonder Tornado, with rubber inserts in the corners to absorb vibrations and with PWM operation up to 2,000 RPM and capable of pushing up to 60.29 CFM d air with an impressive static pressure of 2.45 mm H2O and all this emitting only 26.88 dBA of noise. If you understand a little about these fan parameters, you will understand that these numbers are impressive.
Of course, the new Scythe Mugen 6 is compatible with all modern processor sockets from Intel and AMD, including Intel’s latest LGA1700 and AMD’s AM5. What the manufacturer has not indicated at the moment is its heat dissipation power, but looking at its characteristics and its shape we will dare to say that it could easily dissipate up to 220 W of heat without problem, maybe more.
Price, availability and versions
For the moment, Scythe has not revealed the price or availability date of its new high-end heatsink. However, if we stick to the precedents and what this manufacturer is used to, we would dare to say that its price will surely be around 60 dollars (as for the arrival date we cannot predict it, but If they’ve already announced it, it’s because they already have it. They’re starting to distribute it to stores and we’ll see it on sale soon).
Moreover, it will be sold in its normal version (with the block of nickel-plated silver aluminum sheets) and in Black Edition, painted black as in the image you can see above.
