Starfield is an open world RPG game where we will explore a huge universe of planets. This game would have a universe that would be connected to the Fallout saga, but in a future universe. The interesting thing about this Bethesda game is that it’s a new saga, the first in 25 years, which should be coming soon.
What does Starfield ask us to play there?
Generally speaking, the requirements for this game aren’t the most beastly we’ve seen to date. We can see that the minimum and recommended requirements askn 6-core, 12-thread processors. It’s not a big deal, you can find pretty good solutions for around 200-300 dollars, or even a little less if you come across an offer.
He also asks us at least 16 GB of RAM memory, quantity that has become standard. The price of this component has dropped a lot, so it is not where you should invest the most money.
Regarding storage, it requires an SSD, so we understand that the requirement is to install it on a device of this type. It also requires 125 GB of space available for installation.
Where we will have the most problems is with the graphics card, which is quite demanding. It requires a minimum of an AMD RX 5700 or an NVIDIA GTX 1070 Ti.
The full requirements are:
Minimum requirements | Recommended Requirements | |
---|---|---|
Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 2600X / Intel Core i7-6800K | AMD Ryzen 5 3600X / Intel i5-10600K |
RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
Graphic card | AMD Radeon RX 5700 / NVIDIA GeForce 1070 Ti | AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 |

Space | 125 GB | 125 GB |
Get your wallet ready, it ain’t cheap
We made as tight a budget as possible to be able to play enough Starfield as needed. We have divided it into three parts. First, we will have the basic structure of CPU, motherboard, SSD and RAM. Then we have two graphics cards capable of running the game well, and finally the combination of chassis and power supply, in case you don’t already have it.
The base is not particularly expensive
You can see from the requirements table that the processor is not very demanding. Any modern processor has 6 cores and 12 threads in an “easy” way and these have very good prices. We focused on mid-range processors, enough to rock this game.
Our first combination is the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor and the Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE V2 motherboard. This is an excellent combination of components as the basis of this system. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor costs 166 dollars and the Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE V2 motherboard costs 125 dollars. Come on, for less than 300 dollars we have an excellent combination of processor and mobo.
We have created an alternative based on the Intel Core i5-12600KF processor and the ASUS TUF GAMING B660M-E D4 motherboard. The Core i5-12600KF processor costs 229 dollars and the ASUS TUF GAMING B660M-E D4 costs 161 dollars. The combination of components costs us 422 dollars, much more than the combination of AMD.
Obviously, we are going to need RAM and SSD memory. We opted for a Samsung 980 1 TB at 65 dollars, which is based on the PCIe 3.0 interface. It’s not the fastest on the market, but it has a brutal price and offers great performance.
We add to this the RAM memory, which is currently on the ground. We opted for the G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB for 70 dollars. This memory kit operates at a frequency of 3600 MHz and has RGB lighting.
The basic structure based on AMD components costs 423 dollars and the Intel one costs 339. Now we have to keep adding with the rest of the components.
Graphics card: the big problem
Without a doubt, where we’re going to leave the most money is on the graphics card. Unfortunately, to play Stafield in 1080p resolution with high FPS or even 1440p resolution, we are going to have to invest a lot of money.
The cheapest option we found is the XFX Speedster MERC319 RX 6800 XT Core 16 GB for 554 dollars. This is a brutal graphics card for gaming at 1440p resolution and also, in some games, at 4K resolution. It undoubtedly offers us support for FSR and FreeSync Premium technologies.
An alternative to the height is the Gigabyte RTX 4070 WindForce OC 12 GB for 670 dollars. This graphics card is extremely powerful, although it has slightly less VRAM. We can play without problems in 1440p resolution, offering no support for playing in 4K. The good thing about this graphics card is that it has specific hardware for Ray Tracing and DLSS.
We give two options and everyone chooses the one that most interests them or fits their budget.
If you don’t have these components
Something that we can reuse, if we have chosen well in the past, is the chassis and the power supply. Otherwise, well, this chassis and power supply will last you a long time.
As a box to hold our computer, we chose the Corsair 4000D Airflow for 106 dollars. We chose it for its open front which, by installing one or two fans, can generate a large air flow. It has a tempered glass side window, which allows you to see inside.
We will have to feed the beast and for that we have chosen the Corsair RM750x 80 Plus Gold for 135 dollars. You can opt for the RM750 White, which is a bit cheaper. We chose this fountain because it is perfect for this configuration and because it is completely modular.
It may seem crazy to spend so much on a power supply, but it will last for many years and is designed for future upgrades. Come on, now let’s spend some money that we’ll save in the future.
